EngineerGirl: women in STEM

This summer we have a bunch of interns at our engineering company, and every one of them is a woman. Yeeha! As you may know there is an abysmally low number of woman in STEM careers. For instance women represent 48% of the population in the U.S. but only 23% of women are engaged in STEM careers.

One area that is particularly low in the STEM sector is engineering. In college, women only represent 18% of the population enrolled in engineering degrees. This needs to change. Engineering is a personally rewarding career that is paid very well and offers the opportunity to make a difference in people's live through new technologies and processes. If you are looking for a resource that aims to increase awareness about engineering check out EngineerGirl. Here you will find a collection of inspiring videos, career resources, and opportunities for students to win prizes.
